Mid-Senior UI / Web Designer

About the Role

This is an excellent full-time opportunity for a UI or Web Designer who is passionate about creating beautiful and usable interfaces. You will enjoy generating designs for our customers–turning ideas into reality.

We are looking for a UI designer, however, if you have coding knowledge you may apply as a Web Designer as outlined in this article.

You’ll be working with a young and energetic team, contributing ideas in the early phases of projects, all the way through to design and implementation.

To apply for this position you will require a minimum of 3 years experience in a design role.

A Typical Day

As our UI / Web designer, you could be performing and responsible for any of the following tasks during your tenure:

  • Supporting our experienced Sales & Project Management team in client meetings
  • Preparing for and facilitating design based workshops with our clients
  • Writing and maintaining documentation based off your designs to ensure internal and external stakeholders are aware of important design decisions and functionality
  • Generating presentations and artwork from this documentation for our Sales & PM teams to leverage
  • Sketching, wireframing and prototyping solutions to ensure our customers requirements are clearly captured
  • Producing design concepts for websites, presentations, EDMs, brochures and more
  • Communicating UX & design decisions to our front-end and back-end development teams at the commencement of each project
  • Providing UX & design recommendations based on web analytics, customer feedback and best practices to our existing clients

Requirements

As the successful candidate, you will need to be passionate about your work. You take ownership in the outcomes you’re trying to achieve for our clients and their customers.

  • You understand the difference between good design and great design
  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate & justify design decisions
  • You are comfortable in facilitating workshop activities with clients and customers
  • You have a thorough understanding of designing for the web
  • You have proven experience in designing experiences that are equal to, or better than our current portfolio of work
  • You don't get too attached to your designs, listen to the feedback of others and always look for the best outcome
  • You have a good sense of humour, meticulous attention to detail and value quality

We are looking for someone who cares about craftsmanship, takes pride in their work and demonstrates this in everything they do.

Experience

To apply for this position you will require a minimum of 3 years experience in a design role. Agency experience would be ideal. We’re looking for someone to bring our designs to the next level, inspiring the team to do their best work. Your experience includes:

  • Presenting your design concepts and providing options to inform an optimal user experience
  • The ability to take design concepts from ideas, lo-fidelity though to production
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design tools
  • Strong collaboration skills working with Sales, Project Managers, Designers, and Developers

This role is purely design-based and does not require any coding experience. However, having a general understanding of technical limitations would definitely be a bonus.
