Senior UX Designer

About the Role

This is an excellent full-time opportunity for a senior UX designer who is focused on UX-led customer success. You love taking ideas and turning them into valuable solutions for our clients and their users.

You’ll be in a multi-faceted role, working with a very passionate team from the early phases of pitches, through to design and implementation. You will be responsible for research, ideation, presentations, documentation, validation, and design.

As this role is a new position at Switch, it will give you the opportunity to integrate your preferred UX processes into the business, giving you the potential to rectify wrongs that you experienced at your previous places of employment!

To apply for this position you will require a minimum of 3 years experience in a UX specific role.

A Typical Day

As our senior UX designer, you could be performing and be responsible for any of the following tasks during your tenure:

  • Attending and supporting our experienced Sales & Project Managers in client meetings
  • Preparing for and facilitating workshops with our clients
  • Developing personas, user stories, empathy maps and other UX deliverables
  • Writing and maintaining documentation based off your research to ensure internal and external stakeholders are following UX best practices
  • Generating presentations and artwork from this documentation for our Sales & PM teams to leverage
  • Sketching, wireframing and prototyping solutions to ensure our customers requirements are clearly captured
  • Producing design concepts
  • Communicating UX & design decisions that were discovered to our design, front-end and back-end development teams at the commencement of each project
  • Providing UX & design recommendations based on web analytics, customer feedback and best practices to our existing clients

Requirements

As the successful candidate, you will need to be passionate about your work. You take ownership in the outcomes you're trying to achieve for our clients and their customers.

  • You understand the difference between good design and great design
  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate & justify design decisions
  • You feel comfortable discussing strategy and vision with customers at a high level
  • You are confident in leading or facilitating workshops with clients and customers
  • You have a thorough understanding of all elements of UX, including interaction design, information architecture, content strategy and UI design
  • You have proven experience in designing experiences that are equal to, or better than our current portfolio of work
  • You don't get too attached to your designs, listen to the ideas of others and look for the best outcome on behalf of clients
  • You have a good sense of humour, meticulous attention to detail and value quality

Experience

To apply for this position you will require a minimum of 3 years experience in a dedicated UX role. We're looking for someone to evangelise UX within our team and for our customers. Your experience includes:

  • Presenting design concepts and options to inform an optimal user experience
  • The ability to take design concepts from ideas, lo-fidelity though to production
  • Experience in implementing and applying a user-centered design process in a web agency
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant UX tools
  • The drive to help others continually develop and succeed
  • Strong collaboration skills working with Sales, Project Managers, Designers, and Developers

This role is purely design-based and does not require any coding experience. Having exposure to, and a general understanding of the technical limitations would definitely be a bonus.
